Wer sichergehen will, wartet den Bescheid ab.
5. Technischen Projektnachweis (TPN) erstellen lassen. Nach Fertigstellung und Bezahlung aller Rechnungen. Sie erhalten die TPN-ID.
6. Verwendungsnachweis einreichen.

BEG EM Application: Process, Deadlines, and the Numbers You Need
The application itself can be submitted online in twenty minutes. What takes effort is everything that comes before — and that is precisely where it is decided whether the funding is granted.
The Rule That Governs Everything
The application must be submitted before an unconditionally binding supply or service contract exists. If this rule is violated, no funding will be granted, and there is no hardship exemption.
At the same time, the following applies: at the time of application, a contract must be in place — however, it must be one that includes a resolutive or suspensive condition tied to the funding approval. Simply having no contract in place is therefore not sufficient.
- Suspensive condition: The contract only becomes effective once the funding has been approved.
- Resolutive condition: The contract is in effect but terminates automatically if the application is rejected.
The Process
1. Obtain quotes and conclude a conditional contract. The contract must be in place at the time of application. Ensure that the condition is explicitly stated in the contract text.
2. Have a Technical Project Description (TPB) prepared. An energy efficiency expert or the specialist contractor prepares it and provides you with the TPB ID.
3. Submit the application online to BAFA. Using the TPB ID, the details from the conditional contract, and your own information.
4. Carry out the measure. You may begin after submitting the application — but prior to receiving the funding approval notice, you proceed at your own risk. Those who want to be on the safe side should wait for the notice.
5. Have a Technical Project Verification (TPN) prepared. After completion and payment of all invoices. You will receive the TPN ID.
6. Submit the proof of use. Using the TPN ID, the invoices, and the specialist contractor's declaration.
7. Disbursement. Following a successful review, a settlement notice is issued, after which the payment is transferred.
The Deadlines Where Applications Fail
The TPB ID and TPN ID are only valid for two months. For data protection reasons, they expire after this period. Anyone who has the TPB prepared in January and only submits the application in April will need a new one. Therefore, only obtain the number when you are close to submitting your application.
Approval period: 36 months from the date of the funding approval notice. According to multiple expert sources, since the extension from 24 to 36 months, the period can no longer be extended further — do not rely on this being possible.
Proof of use: within 6 months of project completion, and no later than 6 months after the end of the approval period. Anyone who misses this deadline forfeits their entitlement to the already approved funding.
This gives you a maximum of 42 months from the notice to the submitted proof of use — those who finish earlier must submit correspondingly earlier.
What You Should Do Immediately After Receiving the Notice
Enter two dates in your calendar: the end of the approval period, and a reminder six months before that. Also, check the notice for errors within one month — after that, it becomes legally binding and can no longer be challenged.
Who Prepares the Numbers
For measures relating to the building envelope and the building systems, and for every application that includes an iSFP (renovation roadmap) bonus, an energy efficiency expert from the official expert list is required. For heating system optimisation without an iSFP bonus, the executing specialist contractor may also prepare the verification documents.
Clarify this early on: not every trade business is familiar with the procedure, and anyone who realises only after receiving the invoice that a verification document is missing will find it difficult to get the contractor to act again.
