Dienstwagen-Versteuerung E-Auto 2026 (0,25-%-Regelung)
Voraussetzungen 2026:
- Reines Batterie-E-Fahrzeug (BEV), keine Hybride
Juli 2025), § 6 Abs. 1 Nr. 4 EStG.
Beispielrechnung (BLP 55.000 €):
- Geldwerter Vorteil: 55.000 × 0,25 % = 137,50 €/Monat
- Bei 30 % Grenzsteuersatz: ca. 41 € Steuerlast/Monat = 495 €/Jahr
- Vergleich Verbrenner gleicher BLP: 550 € geldwerter Vorteil/Monat → ~165 €/Monat Steuern (Differenz ~1.500 €/Jahr Ersparnis)

E-Auto-Förderung prüfen →Company Car Taxation for Electric Vehicles 2026 (0.25% Rule)
What is the 0.25% rule? When an employee uses a purely electric company car for private purposes, they are taxed monthly on 0.25% of the gross list price (compared to 1% for combustion engine vehicles) — a significant tax relief.
Requirements in 2026:
- Pure battery electric vehicle (BEV), no hybrids
- Gross list price (BLP) ≤ €100,000 → 0.25% (applies to vehicles first provided from July 1, 2025 onwards)
- BLP > €100,000: 0.5%
- For vehicles provided before July 1, 2025, the old threshold of €70,000 continues to apply
- Applicability: first registration or first provision between January 1, 2019 and December 31, 2030
- Also applies to leasing and salary sacrifice arrangements
Note: The increase of the threshold from €70,000 to €100,000 was introduced by the "Act for an Immediate Tax Investment Programme to Strengthen Germany as a Business Location" (in force since July 1, 2025), § 6 para. 1 no. 4 EStG.
Sample calculation (BLP €55,000):
- Taxable benefit in kind: €55,000 × 0.25% = €137.50/month
- At a 30% marginal tax rate: approx. €41 tax burden/month = €495/year
- Comparison with combustion engine vehicle at the same BLP: €550 taxable benefit in kind/month → approx. €165/month in taxes (difference: approx. €1,500/year in savings)
Logbook method:
- Instead of the flat 0.25%: actual private journeys driven × applicable valuation rate
- For electric vehicles: acquisition costs or leasing instalments are only assessed at one quarter (for BLP ≤ €100,000)
- Often more favourable than the flat rate when private use is very low (< 25% of total mileage)
Electricity cost reimbursement by the employer (from 2026 onwards):
- The tax-free monthly flat rates that applied until the end of 2025 (€30/€70/€15/€35) have been discontinued from January 1, 2026 (BMF letter dated November 11, 2025, ref. IV C 5 – S-2334/00087/014/013)
- From 2026, a tax-free reimbursement is only possible in two ways — the chosen method must be applied uniformly for the entire calendar year:
- Individual proof of actual costs: documentation of the amount of electricity charged via a separate meter (e.g. a wallbox with a meter), plus submission of the individual electricity tariff including the proportionate standing charge
- New electricity price flat rate: as a simplification, the official electricity price flat rate (34 ct/kWh for 2026) may be used instead of the individual tariff — however, metered recording via a separate meter remains mandatory under this option as well
- Charging on company premises (using employer infrastructure) continues to be tax-free under § 3 no. 46 EStG (until December 31, 2030)
- Charging at public charging points using an employer-provided charging card is treated as tax-free reimbursement of out-of-pocket expenses (evidenced by charging statements)
PHEV special rule (for demarcation purposes):
- 0.5% for plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) with ≥ 80 km purely electric range or ≤ 50 g CO₂/km (WLTP) — applies to vehicles acquired from January 1, 2025
- For PHEV company cars acquired before 2025, the old rule (minimum 60 km electric range) continues to apply
EB Klein recommendation: For BLPs between €90,000 and €105,000, it is worth carefully checking the specific model variant — a €101,000 vehicle is taxed at 0.5% instead of 0.25%. Furthermore, if the manufacturer's list price rises above the €100,000 threshold between the time of ordering and first registration, the higher rate applies — the decisive BLP is the one at the time of first registration.
