E-Auto Leasing vs. Kauf 2026: Was lohnt sich für wen?
Privatkauf
Privatleasing
- Kein Wertverlust-Risiko (Restwert garantiert)
- Wartung/Reifen oft inkludiert
Gewerbliches Leasing (Operating Lease)
- THG-Quote: meist Leasinggeber, verhandelbar
- Empfehlung: Liquiditätsschonend, vor allem bei Flottenaufbau
Gewerbliches Leasing (Finance Lease/Mietkauf)
- Bilanzierung beim Leasingnehmer wie Eigentum
- Investitionsbooster ANWENDBAR: 75 % AfA im Anschaffungsjahr (§ 7 Abs. 2a EStG; gilt für Investitionen 1.7.2025–31.12.2027)
- Komplexere Vertragsgestaltung, IFRS-relevant
Faustregel EB Klein
| Situation | Empfehlung |
|---|---|
| Privat + Halten > 5 Jahre | Kauf |
| Privat + Unsicher / kurzfristig | Leasing |
| Gewerbe + Investitionsbooster nutzen | Mietkauf/Finance Lease |
€ bereit.

E-Auto-Förderung prüfen →Electric Car Leasing vs. Buying in 2026: What's Worth It for Whom?
Private Purchase
- BAFA (Federal Office for Economic Affairs and Export Control) purchase premium (new from 2026): Base funding of €3,000 for battery electric vehicles (BEVs), up to €6,000 with income and family tiering; also available for leasing (see below)
- THG quota (approx. €250–€410/year, market-dependent) stays with the registered owner — premiums have risen significantly in 2026, with peak values exceeding €400
- Tax benefits: Vehicle tax exemption for 10 years from first registration, at the latest until December 31, 2035 (applies to all new registrations from January 1, 2026; legally extended at end of 2025)
- Wallbox costs deductible as a household-related tradesperson service
- Depreciation is borne by the buyer (EVs: 35–55% after 3 years, model-dependent)
- High capital commitment
- Recommendation: If a holding period of ≥ 5 years is planned and residual value risk is acceptable
Private Leasing
- BAFA purchase premium (new from 2026): Also applicable when leasing new vehicles (base €3,000, social tiering up to €6,000)
- Monthly predictable payment (often €199–€399 for small BEVs)
- No depreciation risk (residual value guaranteed)
- Maintenance/tyres often included
- THG quota: Contractually often with the lessor (check!) — if with the lessee: market share depending on agreement, currently approx. €100–€200/year
- Tax benefits: NOT applicable (private leasing is not deductible for a private vehicle)
- Vehicle tax exemption: Applies to the vehicle, not the lessee — the financial benefit is factored into the leasing rate calculation
- Recommendation: When uncertain about model choice, concerned about technology changes, or with a short usage period (< 4 years)
Commercial Leasing (Operating Lease)
- Leasing rate fully deductible as a business expense
- 0.25% rule for private use applies in full (same regulation as ownership; note the list price ceiling)
- 19% input tax deduction on the leasing rate
- NO investment booster (no fixed assets recorded by the lessee)
- THG quota: usually with the lessor, negotiable
- Recommendation: Capital-efficient, especially when building up a fleet
Commercial Leasing (Finance Lease/Hire Purchase)
- Capitalised on the lessee's balance sheet as ownership
- Investment booster APPLICABLE: 75% depreciation (AfA) in the year of acquisition (§ 7 para. 2a EStG; applies to investments from July 1, 2025 to December 31, 2027)
- More complex contract structure, relevant under IFRS
- Recommendation: When the investment booster is to be utilised and balance sheet build-up is desired
EB Klein Rule of Thumb
| Situation | Recommendation |
|---|---|
| Private + holding period > 5 years | Purchase |
| Private + uncertain / short-term | Leasing |
| Commercial + use investment booster | Hire purchase / Finance Lease |
| Commercial + preserve liquidity | Operating Lease |
Note on BAFA funding 2026: The new state purchase premium (claimable since May 2026, retroactively from January 1, 2026) applies to both the purchase and leasing of new vehicles and improves the cost-effectiveness of both models for private individuals. A total budget of approximately €3 billion is available up to 2029.
